As we approach November, it's time for those enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), often referred to as food stamps, to get ready for their next set of benefits.

SNAP benefits helps families and individuals with lower incomes in the United States, including all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and U.S. territories, by offering them a monthly allowance to buy food.

These funds are added to electronic benefit transfer (EBT) cards, which work like debit cards at stores that accept them for eligible food purchases.

The process of sending out SNAP benefits is handled by each state and local government, which is why the time you'll receive your benefits can vary depending on where you live. The specific date could depend on things like your case number, your last name's first letter, or other guidelines set by your state.

For example, in California, the final digit of your case number determines when in the month you'll get your benefits, with earlier dates for lower digits.
